Aboriginal people and Nuclear Racism
|
We approached Carlos Latuff with an idea for a cartoon, involving the oppression of Australia's Aboriginal people. He kindly (and quickly) sent us a cartoon and stated: "Dear Mr. Lambe, According my promise,
attached is an exclusive illustration for your organization. I decided
not to put words, to let you free to add any message on it. Image
is high resolution .tiff file." (Original) Much gratitude to a dedicated and astute political cartoonist from the PARIAH mob. |

About Carlos Latuff "Brazilian social and political cartoonist Latuff is one of the most stalwart contributors both to the efforts of editorial cartoons.net as well as for many other independent political and media urls. Throughout the years 1999-2001 and continuing to this day. Latuff has done more to advance the discipline of opinion art as much, if not more, than any image creator working today. This small catalog has archived
the best of Latuff's efforts into three categories, world comment, resistance
art and regional visual comments on Latuff's native Brazil." |

Some
of our favourite Latuff pieces
Commonsense
pro-semitic
(Latuff's defence of the Palestinian people has seen him
falsely labeled an anti-semite by critics)
prison
suicide
This cartoon could as easily be about the 'mysterious'
deaths of Aboriginal men in White prisons here
| "In
these images, artist compares the suffering of Palestinians to various oppressed
people in history and elsewhere in the world now. Last artwork from this
series shows a scene from Nazi-era Warsaw Ghetto, where a Jewish boy says
"I am Palestinian". According to Latuff, "Jews from past and today's Palestinians
were/are both victims. If today was 1940, I would to say "I am Jew". But
today, Palestinians are the victims, not aggressors. If you are victim of
opression anywhere, then you are Palestinian as well".
