NT News: Promotes Reprisals Against
Mandatory Sentencing Opponents.

PARIAH members believe that mandatory sentencing is a racist and politically corrupt regime which will only increase the social problems that lead to theft and property damage.

PARIAH members also believe that the greatest victims of crime in the Northern Territory are the Aboriginal people, not the non-Aboriginal people who are responsible for the worst excesses of crime in the NT.

The idea of punishing anti-mandatory sentencing protestors by robbing and trashing their homes and using their lounge-room floor as a toilet, demonstrates the attractiveness of these unjust laws to vigilantes, racists and other ignorant hypocrites.

Aboriginal people have more right to be angry, than anyone in the NT, but they are not punishing non-Aboriginals in reprisal, as Mr Poulton (Opinion,Letters, NT News, Tuesday, March 14, 2000) suggests.

The function of the NT News as the 'damage control rag' for the
Country Liberal Party is also demonstrated, by this reckless promotion of unlawful reprisals.

-------------------------------------------------

In 1995, three white, armed, vigilantes robbed everything I owned, from my home on the Cox Peninsula and threatened to “blow my f…ing head off.”

I told the Supreme Court I did not want the vigilantes imprisoned, just my belongings returned.

The 9mm automatic pistol pointed
at my head was registered to one of the thieves. The hire truck used to remove my possessions was hired in his name.

Despite (or because of ) the testimony of four Aboriginal eyewitnesses, the jury of ‘Territorians’ acquitted the armed thieves. None of my possessions were ever returned.

In 1998 while publicising the blatant racism on the Cox Peninsula (at the PARIAH stall at Mindil Beach Markets) two more home invasions occurred.

One PARIAH members home was ransacked and his bed urinated upon and on another occasion my home was trashed and food and bedding thrown onto the ground outside.

PARIAH continue to protest the racism on the Cox Peninsula, despite a campaign to exclude, discredit and silence us. PARIAH continue to protest the NT’s racist mandatory sentencing laws.

PARIAH’s “squeals of outrage” are firmly focused on the people responsible for the social injustice that causes “anti-social” behaviour - the corrupt and racist Country Liberal Party.
