SHOCK FIGURES REVEAL:
OVER 20% OF NT
PRISON POPULATION

WHITE!

In a hastily convened Press Conference NT Police Minister MIKE REED promised, "...to make the reduction of white incarceration rates a major political priority"

Mr Reed pointed to the Country Liberal Party's Mandatory Sentencing as "...a step in the right direction" (and pleaded with reporters) "...to give Mandatory Sentencing a FAIR GO!"

The Police Minister blamed "...the influence of Aboriginal culture" for the high rate of incarceration in the NT.

He added, "...People should remember that we (non Aboriginal people) comprise over 70% of the NT population, so the figures are not as high as they first appear."

Mr Reed later joked with NT NEWS reporters stating:
"We are doing much better than Tasmania."
