Jon I wrote the article you seem to have a
problem with.
Jon - "Cowardly and wrong"
Mick - You have a reputation as a person with some legal experience. Do you think providing evidence for these accusations is too much to ask? Jon - "You are rejected".
Mick - Is that an official or personal statement? You are no longer President of the Legal Council (NT) and this matter has been dealt with, as frankly, I couldn't be bothered pursuing the issue. A group that includes Mr Spazzapan as a member of its Council, is hardly a credible avenue for redress and unlike yourself we have more important matters to consider. Your lack of outrage at the way PARIAH
(and NAP people) have been treated by successive NT governments is noted.
Even if your non-specific accusations based on hearsay, were true (they're
not) they pale into insignificance besides such State persecution.
Jon -"Climbing onto the back of black politics in an effort to find legitimacy is pathetic."
Mick - A classic case of projection, given your silence over the increased rate of incarceration Aboriginal people have suffered under a NT Labor government welcomed by the Law Society (NT). You also insult the Belyuen Community and the Singh family (traditional owners of the Kenbi region) with that accusation. http://www.country-liberal-party.com/pages/Kenbi-Claim-shell-game.htm Aboriginal people are not some discrete political issue. They are our friends, partners, family, co-activists... To many people, NT Labor's continuation of the Country Liberal Party's dry season harassment of Aboriginal people through the use of Aboriginal agencies, falls into the category of climbing onto the back of black politics in an effort to find legitimacy..." And where was your outrage when the NT Labor party started blaming marijuana for Aboriginal suicides and violence, in order to 'legitimise' their anti-marijuana campaign and whitewash the real causes? I agree with you "...(it) is pathetic."
Jon
- "I see that your defence was successful in two respects, spectacular
failure and the alienation of anybody who had sympathy for you or the
point you wished to make."
Yes. The World was shocked by my cavalier treatment of these humanistic, legal luminaries. Personally I believe people will be more
shocked by your poor grammar and clumsy sentence structure.
Not to mention your prejudice and inability
to confront me with any relevant facts to explain why you believe I am
"wrong". It would be easy to accuse you of "cowardice".
If I make a mistake in an article, I am pleased to have it pointed out. I don't want inaccuracies on our web site. I was present at the occasions described
in the article, whereas you were not. Mr Spazzapan and the Law Society (NT) have
had months to critique this piece.
I sent the url to both parties from pariahnt@yahoo.com Their silence indicates no disapproval with the article's accuracy and perhaps even relief at my gentle handling of their involvement. Your remarks are rude and unhelpful. And
you have presented no logical reason for me to change a word. Spazzapan's
behaviour was arrogant and outrageous -- by any standards -- save
that of the Law Society (NT) it would seem.

You are included on our site Jon at...

Burke urged to resign over contempt
finding.
http://www.country-liberal-party.com/pages/Embarrassment.a.htm ---------------------------------------------------------- We hope you will
prove as vocal in your beliefs when NT Attorney General,
Peter Toyne is also found guilty of contempt...
This is the State and legal system you defend -- as you attack us. 39. The hostile media
campaign (epitomized by Attorney General Peter Toyne's public remarks
on the court case) made an unbiased jury trial seem unlikely to Defendants.
The NT News ran a headline -- 'Jail my son' (Luke Masters
- one of the protesters) the day before the Defendants were to be sentenced.
73. The NT Attorney
General -- Peter ("Head-kicker")
Toyne, who denied making statements (recorded
in Hansard) under oath, was given far more 'assistance' from the
Magistrate than other witnesses. Developing 'a line of questioning'
was almost impossible, with interjections from the Police Prosecutor
contributing to the Defendant's difficulties. 129. Attempts to bring NT Attorney General Peter Toyne's comments on the trial - (which the Applicant believes amount to Contempt of Court) -- to the attention of the Courts have yet to meet with success. 130. "...NT Attorney General Peter Toyne, has emulated his CLP predecessor Denis Burke, by discussing ongoing court cases publicly."
Toyne went much further.
...thereby avoiding a belief that you and the Law Society are politically biased. A belief compounded by your attack on political activists facing imprisonment for protesting the criminality and discrimination in the system you serve. |
|
Given your alleged legal acumen, perhaps
you can explain why this complaint has yet to be rejected or accepted?
I defend you in this piece.
And who could forget your stirring summation of the NT CLP defeat?
And who will forget (or forgive) the hypocritical silence from yourself and the Legal Society (NT) now that black incarceration rates have risen under the auspices of the NT Labor party?
PARIAH (and NAP) have demonstrably more political independence than you people. Jon your attack is unprofessional, non-legalistic, illogical, emotive, insulting, prejudicial and hypocritical. Such an attack coming from the former head of the Legal Society (NT) and a practicing QC, only reinforces the validity of our accusations regarding the bigotry, political discrimination and incestuous legal system, we must contend with in the Northern Territory. You obviously do not believe that common courtesy should be extended to people such as ourselves and that the extrajudicial treatment we face is permissable, given the sacred cow status you now enjoy under NT Labor. And you dare to call us "pathetic?" Your "sympathy" hasn't done much good for the Aboriginal people impacted by NT Labor's continuation of racist policies, so we can probably survive without it.
As a matter of courtesy a reply is expected. I know you will prefer a public exchange in contrast to the "...dark system of secret government..." you describe -- the one that miraculously vanished when the Country Liberal Party were ousted.
yours sincerely
