I have seen your website. Your comments in relation to Markus Spazzapan and Suzan Cox are cowardly and wrong. You are rejected.

Climbing onto the back of black politics in an effort to find legitimacy is pathetic.

I see that your defence was successful in two respects, spectacular failure and the alienation of anybody who had sympathy for you or the point you wished to make.

I wrote the article you seem to have a problem with.

http://www.country-liberal-party.com/NAP/pages/Articles_31.htm

Jon - "Cowardly and wrong"

Mick - You have a reputation as a person with some legal experience. Do you think providing evidence for these accusations is too much to ask?

Jon - "You are rejected".

Mick - Is that an official or personal statement? You are no longer President of the Legal Council (NT) and this matter has been dealt with, as frankly, I couldn't be bothered pursuing the issue. A group that includes Mr Spazzapan as a member of its Council, is hardly a credible avenue for redress and unlike yourself we have more important matters to consider.

Your lack of outrage at the way PARIAH (and NAP people) have been treated by successive NT governments is noted. Even if your non-specific accusations based on hearsay, were true (they're not) they pale into insignificance besides such State persecution.

Jon -"Climbing onto the back of black politics in an effort to find legitimacy is pathetic."

Mick - A classic case of projection, given your silence over the increased rate of incarceration Aboriginal people have suffered under a NT Labor government welcomed by the Law Society (NT).

You also insult the Belyuen Community and the Singh family (traditional owners of the Kenbi region) with that accusation.

http://www.country-liberal-party.com/pages/Kenbi-Claim-shell-game.htm

Aboriginal people are not some discrete political issue. They are our friends, partners, family, co-activists...

To many people, NT Labor's continuation of the Country Liberal Party's dry season harassment of Aboriginal people through the use of Aboriginal agencies, falls into the category of climbing onto the back of black politics in an effort to find legitimacy..."

And where was your outrage when the NT Labor party started blaming marijuana for Aboriginal suicides and violence, in order to 'legitimise' their anti-marijuana campaign and whitewash the real causes?

I agree with you "...(it) is pathetic."

It seems only non-Aboriginal people can move to the cities without facing repression It seems only non-Aboriginal people can move to the cities without facing repression

Jon - "I see that your defence was successful in two respects, spectacular failure and the alienation of anybody who had sympathy for you or the point you wished to make."

Yes. The World was shocked by my cavalier treatment of these humanistic, legal luminaries.

Personally I believe people will be more shocked by your poor grammar and clumsy sentence structure.

Not to mention your prejudice and inability to confront me with any relevant facts to explain why you believe I am "wrong". It would be easy to accuse you of "cowardice".

If I make a mistake in an article, I am pleased to have it pointed out. I don't want inaccuracies on our web site.

I was present at the occasions described in the article, whereas you were not.
I suggest you seek some legal advice on how this reality impacts upon our respective credibility as witnesses.

Mr Spazzapan and the Law Society (NT) have had months to critique this piece.
I sent the url to both parties from pariahnt@yahoo.com Their silence indicates no disapproval with the article's accuracy and perhaps even relief at my gentle handling of their involvement.

Your remarks are rude and unhelpful. And you have presented no logical reason for me to change a word. Spazzapan's behaviour was arrogant and outrageous -- by any standards -- save that of the Law Society (NT) it would seem.

Burke urged to resign over contempt finding.

http://www.country-liberal-party.com/pages/Embarrassment.a.htm

The Northern Territory Law Society says Chief Minister Denis Burke should resign immediately from the position of Attorney-General, after being found guilty of contempt of court.

A Federal Court judge has warned Mr Burke he risks being jailed if he repeats comments which have been found in contempt and he has fined Mr Burke $10,000.

The Law Society's Jon Tippett says contempt of court is a serious charge, particularly when it is levelled against an Attorney General.

"It would be both embarrassingand difficult to deal with other jurisdictions and particularly other attorneys-general when your own Attorney-General is so grievously wounded by a finding of the court," he said.

"Really [for] the dignity of the Northern Territory and in the interests of the people of the Northern Territory, the Attorney-General must resign - there is no alternative."

----------------------------------------------------------

We hope you will prove as vocal in your beliefs when NT Attorney General, Peter Toyne is also found guilty of contempt...

This is the State and legal system you defend -- as you attack us.

39. The hostile media campaign (epitomized by Attorney General Peter Toyne's public remarks on the court case) made an unbiased jury trial seem unlikely to Defendants. The NT News ran a headline -- 'Jail my son' (Luke Masters - one of the protesters) the day before the Defendants were to be sentenced.

73. The NT Attorney General -- Peter ("Head-kicker") Toyne, who denied making statements (recorded in Hansard) under oath, was given far more 'assistance' from the Magistrate than other witnesses. Developing 'a line of questioning' was almost impossible, with interjections from the Police Prosecutor contributing to the Defendant's difficulties.

125. The Applicant can not be accused of failing to use legal avenues to seek redress, a public accusation made by the NT Attorney General, Peter Toyne on ABC radio, regarding the Defendants.

129. Attempts to bring NT Attorney General Peter Toyne's comments on the trial - (which the Applicant believes amount to Contempt of Court) -- to the attention of the Courts have yet to meet with success.

130. "...NT Attorney General Peter Toyne, has emulated his CLP predecessor Denis Burke, by discussing ongoing court cases publicly."

NT ABC radio internal transcript

"...Peter Toyne has called on the Network Against Prohibition to GROW UP and start using the democratic process available to all citizens."

"NAP's Gary Meyerhoff says it obtained subpoenas to have senior police and politicians appear in court cases involving its members."

"So far subpoenas have been served on the Chief Minister Clare Martin, Syd Stirling, Loraine Braham, Denis Burke and Peter Toyne ...with more yet to be served."

"Mr Toyne says while he'll show up, he's fed up with the actions of the group."

"...I think people here in the Northern Territory are getting heartily sick of Gary Meyerhoff and his group and their total disrespect for every institution that holds our community together whether it be the parliament or the procedure that they're now entering in to I'm more than happy to describe what happened on the day that parliament was invaded."

131. A simple comparison with the remarks that led to Former CLP Leader, Denis Burke's conviction for contempt -- would see ample grounds for such an action.

"The contempt action (against Denis) followed a press conference Mr Burke gave on June 7 at which he described a challenge by NAALAS to the appointment of Hugh Bradley as the territory's chief magistrate as a waste of taxpayers' money."

Toyne went much further.

JUSTICE MURRAY WILCOX, FEDERAL COURT: The principles concerned in contempt of court cover several matters. One of these is the protection of litigants from improper pressure to abandon or discontinue claims or defences. The law does not countenance intimidation of litigants or their being subjected to public obloquy or abuse to defend their rights."

...thereby avoiding a belief that you and the Law Society are politically biased. A belief compounded by your attack on political activists facing imprisonment for protesting the criminality and discrimination in the system you serve.

Given your alleged legal acumen, perhaps you can explain why this complaint has yet to be rejected or accepted?

I defend you in this piece.

And who could forget your stirring summation of the NT CLP defeat?

ABC Online - NT Law Society welcomes a future Labor Govt

Labor has pledged to remove mandatory sentencing.

Mr Tippett says he is looking forward to life under the new government.
"There has been a lot of sunshine in the Northern Territory, but not a lot of light,"
he said.

Jon Tippet - basking in the light of the NT Labor party Jon Tippett QC - basking in the light of the NT Labor party

"We've been under quite a dark system of secret government for some time and for people like myself, it's just a sheer pleasure to walk down the street these days."

And who will forget (or forgive) the hypocritical silence from yourself and the Legal Society (NT) now that black incarceration rates have risen under the auspices of the NT Labor party?

PARIAH (and NAP) have demonstrably more political independence than you people.

Jon your attack is unprofessional, non-legalistic, illogical, emotive, insulting, prejudicial and hypocritical. Such an attack coming from the former head of the Legal Society (NT) and a practicing QC, only reinforces the validity of our accusations regarding the bigotry, political discrimination and incestuous legal system, we must contend with in the Northern Territory.

You obviously do not believe that common courtesy should be extended to people such as ourselves and that the extrajudicial treatment we face is permissable, given the sacred cow status you now enjoy under NT Labor.

And you dare to call us "pathetic?"

Your "sympathy" hasn't done much good for the Aboriginal people impacted by NT Labor's continuation of racist policies, so we can probably survive without it.

As a matter of courtesy a reply is expected. I know you will prefer a public exchange in contrast to the "...dark system of secret government..." you describe -- the one that miraculously vanished when the Country Liberal Party were ousted.

yours sincerely
