Oz Indymedia

Racist/hate campaigns by "pseudoactivists" and autocrats against Oz's only collective to include Aboriginal people the darwin indymedia collective - a clear misuse of OUR indymedia by some autocrats without ethics or accountability

NZ indymedia

NZ imc racism

Asher's (NZ imc) belated and insulting response

Darwin indymedia (DIMC) - is an affiliated indymedia collective - the last and only attempt to disaffiliate us was made by a person our (then) mainly Aboriginal collective described as "racist"

"Any collective wishing to call itself Darwin Indymedia would therefore require, as part of it's constitution, to exclude this individual (mick lambe) and would automatically forfeit it's place as an IMC if he were ever to become a member." [1] - proposal by Andrew Lowenthal

Obviously I take this personally and will not tolerate the existence of a network that uses such ugly, racist tactics to enforce its will as well as excluding Aboriginal people from the Oz network

Brisbane indymedia is gone too - thanks to autocratic interference from these illegitimate autocrats who have dehosted the DIMC twice and wiped hundreds of darwin indymedia's articles from the www

Concentration of mainstream media is a real problem in this country and two regions in Australia which are essentially US bases are excluded from the world wide indymedia network they supported and joined in good faith as autonomous entities - this is worrisome

The historical domination of Melbourne and Sydney over debate in regions far removed from them in Australia is not something that means much in cyberspace - if the available forums are open, unbiased and prepared to accept the diversity they claim to embrace

The DIMC were working out of One Mile Dam Aboriginal community when the race/hate campaign to destroy our collective began on sydney indymedia - article after article calling our people liars, ignoring the evidence provided by our Aboriginal members and images of a battered Aboriginal woman we were caring for at One Mile Dam with hate comments appended incessantly for months

For reasons the indymedia network refuse to explain - our collective have been without an indymedia domain for over 2 years - A clear breach of indymedia's Principle Of Unity (POU) and general autonomous ethics

Darwin indymedia was the only activist site in the Northern Territory with any political weight due to its link-up with 300 other indymedia sites world-wide - and the indymedia network's claims of autonomy and political freedom

- a medium that local activists were organising and exchanging views in without political censorship - working on the premise that the best ideas deserve to win

- our aim was to unite people and provide an alternative view to Corporate reporting - We deleted the HATE posts that were a feature of Oz indymedias and succeeded in hosting a relevant and useful indymedia that was praised for the quality of its presentation and incisive reporting

Darwin activists were attacked and abused in defiance of indymedia's Editorial Policy (Ed Pol) for 4 years - up until the disgusting and illegitimate interference in our local affairs that saw our site seized and given to people we expelled for unethical and intimidatory behaviour that has continued for nearly 3 years.

Essentially anyone I associated with was abused and libeled with impunity on these State sympathetic sites - The hate and constant abuse which continues despite my facing prison is very real and very harmful to my political and social life - I intend to fight this ugly misuse of indymedia to harm political activists and the autocratic domination of a supposedly progressive media network by some nationalist/bullyboy types preventing people with oppositional views speaking out

We had 2 sites seized and hundreds of articles on local political issues removed from the www - with no process - not even an explanation - something the State would appreciate given our site's political influence and ability to reach international sites

This network is not about autonomy - not about Open Publishing - This network is politicised and run as an elitist space by a few people with no grassroots support in the cities they supposedly represent

The Darwin collective has more active, credible, diverse members than the indymedias based in major cities. There is obviously something very wrong about the collectives there

People from different cultures (Aboriginal and others) with different views are not welcome on Oz cyberspace as the hosting of hate/race campaigns that continued for months on sydney indymedia and were later emulated by NZ imc demonstrated

The plagiarising of my last seven articles about politically sensitive issues - stripped of my name and links and hosted on these 'indymedia' sites was a direct attack on my work, using these sites I could no longer ignore

"Any collective wishing to call itself Darwin Indymedia would therefore require, as part of it's constitution, to exclude this individual (mick lambe) and would automatically forfeit it's place as an IMC if he were ever to become a member." [1] - proposal by Andrew Lowenthal

Much of my work online is appended with Ed Pol-breaching hate gibberish (due to politicised editing) because White Australians will not accept their role as beneficiaries of an ongoing genocide

This means the measures taken to redress wrongs against Aboriginal people are doomed to failure and will be oppressive by their very nature and origins

Criticism of the White Australian's racist, militarist and nationalist ethos strikes to their very core of self - It is my preferred target and provokes a predictibly adverse reaction due to the politicisation of 'Australian' institutions which are based on this White Australian racist, militarist and nationalist ethos

The ability to provoke reaction is a necessary skill in exposing such realities

Always better to strike at the head than the tentacles, which appear in...

...East Timor, the Solomon Islands, Iraq, Vietnam. et al, in unison with the United State's policy goals and Australian capital interests

[3. All IMC's respect the right of activists who choose not to be photographed or filmed.]

4. 7. [All IMC's recognize that a prerequisite for participation in the decision making process of each local group is the contribution of an individual's labor to the group.]

8. All IMC's are committed to caring for one another and our respective communities both collectively and as individuals and will promote the sharing of resources including knowledge, skills and equipment.
